In light of the disorganization dilemma Ive had lately I decided to hunt out other wahm ideas for re-organizing. I wasn’t always this bad. At one time I really had my act together but after a series of mishaps last year the stress and constant distractions slowly turned me into that crazy college professor with four pencils stuck in her frizzy hair bun peering over the heap of crap she calls a desk. I am also easily distracted. With two teenage boys my home is almost always full of teens. I'm always needed for a hug or a ride or a plate of pizza rolls and kool aid. During the school day it is a little easier to get work accomplished but as I said, I am hopelessly easy to distract. Just this morning I sat on the porch with coffee cup safely beside me and laptop at the ready when my neighbor strolled up. He commented on the smell of my coffee all the way into his yard. So he had a cup and I had another cup and we conversed on the type of coffee and the woodpecker invasion of late and how mild a summer we’ve had. Then we talked about the pumpkins growing in my garden and as he walked back across my yard I thought how nice it would be to make my moms recipe for pumpkin cheesecake. I decided to email my aunt for it and as I was doing that I thought how I should get that pork roast out for dinner. Then it was 10:00 a.m. and I couldn’t remember what I was about to do. Standing in the kitchen rubbing my head I thought- “I was doing something important a minute ago…what was it?” Oh yeah… working… Doh! Anywho- I found these articles with tips I found helpful. I am a writer with a busy schedule at the moment (knock on wood) I place and supervise foreign exchange students and sell Mary Kay. I am active in all three of these ventures as well as President of my local MOMS Club and going through RCIA classes at St Marks. Plus I have six kids and a troublesome little brother. How do I do it all- you ask? Good question. I don’t know. One thing I do know is there has got to be a better way. I need a filing system (or a secretary)or something. Certain little things like addressing it to a real person and not Dear Editor or Dear HR administrator helps to get y our foot in the door just a little farther than the next guy.
Even if you have to do a little leg work to find out who that person is. Most ads will give a contact persons name. Use it.
Don’t forget that a cover letter is, in all actuality, a great big advertisement for your services.
You are selling your abilities and talents in this cover letter so go for the gold.
Remember the double T’s: be Tactful but Truthful.

How Can I Find a Work From Home Job?

Do you know the first thing you must do? The most important tool at your disposal is free.
It is your telecommuters resume and it is a must have.
Don’t get nervous. It isn’t hard. As a matter of fact if you have resume it only takes a few tweaks to make it a work from home resume.
You’ll have to list all of you work from home experience- even if you think you don’t have any.
You’d be surprised how many people do not list their home businesses on their resume.
If you sell AVON or MaryKay- if you walk dogs or babysit- you have work from home experience and it should be touted.
Make sure to list those experience as professionally as possible. If you sell AVON list the office work you were able to accomplish at home:
Used accounting software to track weekly sales
Created and distributed marketing material
Supervised downline
Make sure to mention that you are looking to telecommute and why you can do so efficiently. List all your home office equipment and your proficiency with each.

PC with Windows XP professional
Two phone lines
Scanner
Copier
Make sure to use the phrase “telecommute from my home office” as opposed to “work from home”. Don’t list your reason why, either. No one cares if you have an illness or are a single mom.
Rough, but true.
ALWAYS send a cover letter. This is where you can target your employer and get more in depth than your resume. Tell them exactly how you can work for them better than anyone else ever in the history of their company.

Domain names- is there money to be made from my living room?

I was working on a nonfiction book I was offered the contract for in May. It was one of the hardest things Ive ever done but it is in fact done.
Yippie! I’m thrilled. I do wish my mom was here to see it.
I was so surprised by how many of my readers and cyber friends called or wrote to make sure I was fine.

The most often asked question (well- one of them) is about how to make money selling domain names.
I don’t have any experience in this and so I got to thinking. Can this be true? I could see it happening back in the 90’s but now?
Is it true or is it just one more of those telecommuting UN-truths?
Lets see…
The idea is to buy a domain name and resell it later for a profit. A big profit.
But how does it work?
You buy a .com or .org or .net or whatever and then you have a choice of two actions:
park it and draw a commission based ad revenue
or
Trade it for cash.
While that sounds simple it isn’t. Ask anyone that has made a income from this venture. It is anything but easy.
To make it work you have to follow a very specific strategy.
Some people count on typos to make their money for them. They buy a domain that is very similar to a really popular site.
Something like www.boogle.com- get it?
They add their advertisements and such. When a person arrives on the site and clicks one of the links- blam- you just made some money.
Other people see a big rush coming and try to capitalize on it.
Imagine if you had a gut feeling 5 years ago that Hanna Montanna would be as popular as she is.
If you’d owned that domain name years ago what would Disney have paid you for it?
This is only the very basics of how it works. There is much more to it. Ive found a few websites and resources that I thought were very helpful and posted them below. Read through them to get an understanding of how the money is earned in this situation. You don’t really need any skills or talents other than the right timing and the ability to choose the perfect money making domain names.
I found a guide that was truly helpful as well. It was the cheapest one I could find but proved to be the most helpful. I even approached two other folks about this post and they were gracious enough to send me thier guides to making money with domain names free. I found them less informative than the one I purchased which was this one.
